Winners of the PIA Awards for Planning Excellence 2020 Announced

Winners have been announced in Queensland, Victoria and Western Australia for 2020’s Healthy Active by Design Award. This award is part of PIA’s awards for Planning Excellence and recognises projects that support healthy and active living with the intent to increase physical activity and other health outcomes in the built environment. 

Thank you to all organisations that submitted nominations and congratulations to the following award winners. 

 

Queensland Winners 


Award: Logan City Council for the Slacks Creek Greenlink Project. 


A greenlink public open space that has transformed an industrial area into a well designed movement corridor with art installations and opportunity to enjoy surrounding nature. 


Commendation: MIRVAC for the BIM’BIMBA Park Project.

Victoria Winners 


Award: GTA Consultants, DELWP & MAROONDAH City Council for the 20 Minute Neighbourhood Project. 


Croydon South’s 20-Minute Neighbourhood project strives to create a public setting that is appealing, accessible and amenable to local needs while facilitating greater diversity of transport modes and a healthier environment for the local community. 


Commendation: City of Melbourne for the Grey to Green Project.

Western Australia Winners 


Award: Development WA for the Montario Quarter.


Considerate redevelopment of a historic site will transform Montario Quarter into a connected, green urban village which has physical health and social wellbeing of its community at its heart.


Commendation: City of Rockingham & Place Laboratory for the Rockingham Beach Foreshore Revitalisation Project.
